Please join CARBO’s industry acknowledged experts in a course designed to provide both the background fundamentals of hydraulic fracturing and “hands on” software training in the design and analysis of fracture treatments. These 3-day
courses run through mid-week, allowing you sufficient time for traveling and office duties. The course is limited to 15 participants and each student will need a laptop computer. For the Kuala Lumpur class, a PC can be provided if needed. Please see the Cost section.
Course Benefits
The course concentrates on the design and analysis of hydraulic fracturing treatments using real-world examples. The class examples cover a wide range of hydraulic fracturing applications and geographical locations, ranging from tight gas sands in the USA to moderately permeable chalk reservoirs in the North Sea to high permeability offshore Frac-Pack completions. The course examples illustrate minifrac
and step-down test analyses and net pressure matching, while also covering fracture design issues for both low and high permeability reservoirs. At the conclusion of the class each student will be capable of using the FracproPT system to build a reliable Earth model and design and evaluate
hydraulic fracture treatments in a wide variety of environments. In addition, students will have a basic understanding of production forecasting and history matching using the FracproPT system.
Direct measurements of hydraulic fracture growth have profoundly influenced the ongoing development of FracproPT, spurring numerous improvements and additions to the software to better predict fracture growth–which are discussed in this course. The course also presents the improvements introduced with the release of FracproPT 2007, including improved log handling and analysis capabilities, the ability to interface directly with commercial reservoir simulators, and Xpress design and mini-frac analysis tools.
Course Outline
- Brief Hydraulic Fracturing Theory Review
- Candidate Selection and Design Considerations
- Fracture Growth Physics and Modeling
- Real-Data Net Pressure Analysis—Concepts, Applications and Benefits

Cost
Cost for the 3-day course is USD 1,500 (USD 1,675 if a PC is provided, Kuala Lumpur only). This includes a CD of the Course Material, 30-day FracproPT demo, lunches and refreshments during breaks.
