This paper describes why conventional "infinite conductivity fracture" solutions are inappropriate to analyze real fractures. Substantial frac lengths in modern fractures (and multiphase, non-Darcy flow effects which are NOT addressed in this paper) require the need for finite conductivity solutions. The paper also addresses why typical PTA solutions are invalid if they assume infinite conductivity fractures, and proposes alternative type curve matches.
