Fracture consulting principals
Director, On-Site Fracture Supervision
Billy Peters has more than 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He recently joined STRATAGEN Engineering after leaving the position of Chief Completions Engineer at GMX Resources where his primary focus was the Haynesville Shale properties. He was previously employed as the Southern Regional Manager for Pinnacle Technologies where his job duties included managing a team of engineers in Pinnacle’s Southern Region, which encompassed fracture mapping and engineering consulting. Before managing the Southern Region, Billy spent four years growing and managing the fracture mapping and consulting division for Pinnacle Technologies in the Fort Worth Basin. Billy spent six years as an Engineer with Halliburton Energy Services. His duties included all aspects of hydraulic fracturing (design, diagnostics and implementation), and zonal isolation (cementing). Billy was highly involved with the Pinpoint Stimulation (Surgifrac, Cobrafrac and Cobrajet frac) training and implementation. Before Halliburton, he spent approximately one year as a Drilling Fluids Engineer for Baroid Drilling Fluids. Today, his main areas of experience include Texas, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Alabama, North Louisiana, North Dakota and some parts of southern California, which encompass the high temperature/high pressure treatments as well as energized fluids. Formation experience types include tight sandstone, limestone and unconventional shale.
Robert F (Bob) Shelley, PE
Director, Well Performance Evaluation
Bob leads a team of hydraulic fracturing, reservoir and data modeling experts that focus on well performance evaluation. His responsibilities include advising StrataGen on new and innovative applications for stimulation technology, leading high profile consulting projects, attending industry conferences and value quantification. With over 37 years engineering, operations and management experience working with various E&P operators, he has established a specialty in hydraulic fracturing and reservoir evaluation of low permeability sand, shale and carbonates. He is credited with developing a useful diagnostic technique to predict adverse formation discontinuity effects on hydraulic fracture propagation. During the last 18 years, Bob has focused his efforts on completion effectiveness and prospect evaluations using engineering and data modeling techniques. His project experience includes the Bakken, Barnett, Eagle Ford, Niobrara, Marcellus, Fayetteville, Haynesville, Granite Wash and Utica. Along with authoring numerous SPE papers, articles and 7 patents, Bob holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and is a Registered Petroleum Engineer in Texas and Colorado. Prior to joining STRATAGEN in 2010, Bob worked for Halliburton, RTA LLC and Landmark.
