Fiber Optic Monitoring

Applied Geomechaincs’s fiber-optic monitoring services offer versatile, safe, and economical solutions for projects with extensive monitoring needs. Typical applications include structural health monitoring and geotechnical monitoring of dams, bridges and pipelines. AGI’s fiber-optic services utilize a combination of Fabry-Perot, distributed strain and distributed temperature sensors. AGI fiber-optic systems also economically consolidate sensor counts by multiplexing measurements across a single fiber line, for optimized channel use without loss of accuracy or resolution. Sensors operate independently of electrical current, which minimizes the risk of fire hazards, and are electromagnetic impulse resistant, assuring function in harsh environments. Service packages are custom tailored to client specifications including resolution, sampling frequency, and measurement requirements, and anticipated operating conditions. Data can be collected and stored on-site and through our Atlas Web-based monitoring software.
