Economic Conductivity™

Improved Flow Capacity

Laboratory conductivity tests are fine – if you’re drilling in a laboratory. In the real world, the advertised data must be reduced to account for realistic conditions including non-darcy flow, multiphase flow, reduced proppant concentration, gel damage, cyclic stress, fines migration and temperature.

In other words, the idea of using a single parameter to select the optimal proppant is full of holes.

Realistic Conductivity Comparison

Real-world variables, superior performance

  • Under realistic conditions, lightweight ceramic (LWC) proppant provides increased fracture width and superior conductivity compared to intermediate density ceramic (IDC) proppant.
      – Dynamic Test Conditions (using StimLab's PredictK 7.5 Program): 100-ft frac height, 0.6 lb/ft2, 1 MMcf/D, 2 BWPD, 2 BCPD, 1000 psi BHFP, moderate gel damage (30# Borate XL)
  • Cost-effective conductivity in the reservoir beats an optimistic promise in the lab.
