Increased Volume

Maintaining the propped fracture width is essential to maximize oil and gas production. Under realistic conditions, the additional volume occupied by a superior quality, lightweight ceramic (LWC) proppant can provide 40% more flow area than intermediate density ceramic (IDC) proppant.
 
Or to put it another way, it’s like getting a 40% volume discount.

 

Lightweight Advantage – Increased Fracture Volume


Lower density, greater volume

  • At 1.5 lb/ft2 LWC will provide significantly greater volume – and a wider fracture – than IDC proppant.
  • IDC may lose up to 50% of fracture width due to filtercake.
  • An identical filtercake thickness only equates to 42% of the LWC-propped fracture.
  • LWC provides 40% greater effective fracture width.
