Mining Applications
|
Mining operations confront a wide range of geotechnical and ground control challenges, including landslides, subsidence, stability of underground openings, performance of tailings impoundments and ground water control—all of which can impact safety and production. For these instances the right level of monitoring provides a cost-effective solution to reduce risk and sustain ore production without interruption.
AGI combines its experience in instrumentation, GPS, fiber optics, data acquisition and data management to provide effective monitoring solutions for the mining industry. In Arizona a 750-meter-deep array of AGI’s digital in-place inclinometers monitors high-wall performance at a major copper mine—excessive movements are reported to the operator by our Atlas data management system. In the case of a 105-hectare landslide at a coal mine in Colorado, AGI designed and installed a monitoring system consisting of in-place inclinometers, piezometers and GPS stations. This automated system identifies slide precursors and provides an early warning to mine personnel for possible area evacuation. In New Mexico an AGI tiltmeter system watches for and reports accelerating ground subsidence above an abandoned solution cavern, which could threaten a major highway, several businesses and private residences.
In every case, experienced AGI personnel implement an integrated monitoring solution that is optimized for conditions at your mine.
