This paper presents case studies of refracture treatments and reorientation measurement results by surface tiltmeter mapping in the Daqing oilfield. All four treatments in this study included a novel design technique of pumping paraffin balls approximately half way through the propped treatment in an attempt to initiate fracture growth in a different orientation or through different perforation intervals. Tiltmeter mapping results indicated that fracture reorientation occurred for the majority of the refracture treatments studied.
