Selection Of A Fracture Proppant In A Tight Gas Field, Bauxite Vs. Sand, Wamsutter Area, Wyoming (SPE 10827)

In the tight Wamsutter formation of Wyoming, production data indicated that the effective fracture conductivity was 90% lower than reference values, which may now be attributed to non-Darcy effects. Use of higher conductivity fractures was demonstrated to be economic, even if proppant cost increased by ten-fold.
